Phil Bott, Captain

 

Captain Phil Bott is a native of Alma, Ontario. He started his firefighting career with the Clifford Volunteer Fire Department in 1999 and developed from an Auxiliary Firefighter to Assistant Training Officer. He attended Lambton college for Fire Science Technology in 2001 and graduated top of his class in 2004. Throughout his schooling he spent 4 co-op terms with the GTAA Fire and Emergency Services Training Division. In November of 2004 he accepted a position with the GTAA as a Firefighter. In 2007 he was promoted to Captain/Fire Service Instructor. Currently he instructs the following courses: Confined Space entry, Hazardous Materials Operations and Technician levels, Medical Operations including CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation, and fire extinguisher training.

Phil is certified by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and Oklahoma State University for the following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards:

  • NFPA STD 472 Hazardous Materials Incidents Responder (Awareness, Operations and Technician Level)
  • NFPA STD 1001  Firefighter Level I, II
  • NFPA STD 1003  Airport Firefighter
  • NFPA STD 1021  Fire Officer Level I
  • NFPA STD 1041  Fire Service Instructor Level I
